This cache is not really suitable for under 5's or buggies and the first leg of the walk to the cache is a bit of a thigh burner!
From Dolgellau follow the A470 to Ganllwyd, your destination. There is free parking and toilets opposite the large black painted community hall. See the Additional Waypoint below.
Cross over the road from the parking area and walk through the gate to the left of the Ganllwyd Community Hall and on to the National Trust tarmac public footpath. Now the fun bit - just walk up! When the tarmac path bends right, follow the NT arrow signs pointing out the public gravel path that strikes up left in to the forest.
Do pause at the large slate tablet at the top of the forest path and take time to read the inscription. It sets the mood. Now cross the bridge and take the path left to the cache or right to Rhaeadr Ddu.
When you see the falls you'll certainly understand how they came to be named. A note of caution here: there are no barriers around the edges of the river, waterfalls or pools, so take care with children and dogs.
The cache is purposefully placed away from the falls area. It is a clear 2ltr "Loc 'n' Loc" air/water tight plastic container with a variety of goodies in it.
When replacing the cache, please make sure the container is closed properly with a "loc 'n' loc" - it gets sort of 'damp' round these parts!
Due to the forest canopy GPS signal might not be quite so good during summer months so it may be worth referring to the spoiler picture or clue if GPS reception is poor.
