Geocache Description:

This is a bit of a scramble through beautiful but seldom visited terrain.

This area was once settled by soldiers returning from the war. The network of old roads through this area is one of the few reminders of the work that was put in to try to turn this too steep country into farmland. They don't call the Strzelecki Ranges "The Heartbreak Hills" for nothing. To find the cache you must follow the Morwell River up stream from Boolarra and take the road that follows the East Branch. When you get to the camp site on the right and the no trespassing sign on your left, don't drive any further. This is the last place you can turn a car around. Continue walking up the track keeping to the left bank of the river(facing upstream). Beware nettles and leeches(Winter)or snakes(Summer). This is not technically difficult but is a bit of a scramble through scrub and weeds. You will need to leave this track at some point to find an easier route to the GZ. The whole walk from leaving your car to the GZ should take about 40 minutes. May not be suitable for small children. Those with better navigation skills than me might be tempted to drive around the back way but be warned you will need a 4wd and don't attempt it on a weekday or risk being flattened by log trucks.
