The Holy Well, also known as the Well Head or Head Well, was quoted in 1889 by Joseph Holloway of Winslow as being situated to the east of the church. It was held in sacred esteem and was said to contain certain mineral qualities rarely to be met with, and it holds a wonderful power of incrustation. Whatever that means?
The well is still there today, but I don't think I would be too keen drinking from it. You can find the well behind some trees at N 51° 52.805 W 000° 49.829. The well is on the way to the cache. Please note the cache isn't in the well or under water.
The well is used today to fill a cattle trough; I believe the cows have are award winning meat. So maybe the water does still has some magical powers?
You can sample some of this magic meat at N 51° 52.577 W 000° 49.403 where you will find a farm shop, for opening times look at their web site http://www.parrott-bros.co.uk, if you like that kind of thing that is.
You can start your adventure at the parking co-ordinates above (Could be busy if a service is on) and then proceed to the trailhead at N 51° 52.820 W000° 50.115 (this is near the church gates).
The whole walk is less that 0.9 of a mile and shouldn't take very long at all, there is a stile to get across and kissing gates to open. So sorry to say buggies and wheel chairs may have problems with this cache.
While you are in town I would suggest you combine this cache with Simply Pauls Chess themed Geocache No.5 - WHITE KNIGHT cache. You will be walking past the trailhead for this cache while you looking for the White Knight.
