Geocache Description:

Come visit this simple cache and help me select my next GPS by letting me know what GPS you are using and how well it tracks satellites.

I have had a very bad year and need some help from my fellow geocachers. On April 14, 2006 I had a heart attack. I am doing well, but while I was in the hospital someone broke into my car and stole several items, including my Garmin e-Trex Vista GPS. Since I need to purchase a new GPS, and everyone who knows me also knows that I absolutely hated the performance of my e-Trex, I have decided to collect some GPS performance data to help me select my new unit.

To log this cache you need to find it, and post or e-mail me the following information about your GPS and its performance:
1. The exact model of your GPS.
2. The number of satellites your GPS was able to track under the tree where the cache is hidden. (Set it on the ground within a foot of the tree and check the number of satellites being tracked after it has been under the tree for at least a minute.)
3. The number of satellites it was able to track while you are standing in the open next to the fire hydrant a few dozen feet northwest of the cache.

I will attach a summary of the performance results to the cache posting so this information will be available to anyone who is interested.

The cache is an 18oz peanut butter jar painted brown. This is not a TB hotel, but since I will not be geocaching for a while I placed two of the three TBs I found last month in this cache to get them back in circulation. I have not been able to locate the third TB, which may also have been stolen.
