Geocache Description:

Another stop along the Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon, get out, stretch your legs and enjoy the view and grab another BC interior cache!

The Fraser Canyon is a stretch of the Fraser River where it descends rapidly through narrow rock gorges in the Coast Mountains enroute from the Interior Plateau of British Columbia to the Fraser Valley. Colloquially, the term "Fraser Canyon" is often used to include the Thompson Canyon from Lytton to Ashcroft, as they form the same highway route which most people are familiar with.

The Canyon was formed during the Miocene period (23.7-5.3 million years ago) by the river cutting into the uplifting Interior Plateau. From the northern Cariboo to Fountain, the river follows the line of the huge Fraser Fault, which runs on a north-south axis and meets the Yalakom Fault a few miles downstream from Lillooet.

I  have driven through this area since I was a child and now that I discovered geocaching, decided that I should perhaps hide a cache here.  I come through here a few time per year.  I have always loved the scenery of the Fraser Canyon and wanted to give you another two reasons to stop and have a look too!  A new cache and a new view.
Park in the large pullout, there is room for many vehicles, grab your GPSr, some snacks and follow your GPSr.  Once you have found it, have a seat in the sun, sign the log and watch a train or two pulling it's load along either side of the canyon.  The walk is not difficult, but it does take you over some unstable ground, so watch your footing.  Older folks and small children will need some assistance hence the high terrain rating.
The cache is well hidden, please put everything back as you have found it.  It contains the usual Geo-Goodies, be aware that you may be in view of other muggles driving along the road or in the parking area, please be discreet.
