Geocache Description:

A little known spot near Hamstreet and the Royal Military Canal, Johnsons corner was created to commemorate the heroism of a pilot whos aircraft crashed close to this site.

The aircraft, a B 17, was on the homeward leg of a bomb run when it ran into trouble over the channel. After they reached land Johnson gave the order to bail out but remained in the aircraft to attempt a crash landing so that the plane didnt hit nearby houses.
This act of heroism, which resulted in his death, is commemorated here by a plaque and a flag. A board at the site gives a much more detailed description of events. There is a book of remembrance available to be signed just up the road.

The cache is a green metal box and at the time of placing contained:

A video from movietone news about flight
An RAF badge
One American dime
An o2 sim card pack
A mini perfume and a mini aftershave
A small box of plastic soldiers

Good luck and please leave feedback as to the quality of cache as its the first I've placed!
