Florence Joyner Olympiad Park

Some parks are deserving of a cache and this one is no exception. The power lines have a tendency to wreck havoc with GPSr reception so use your geosenses. There is no need to go off-trail or trample any plants. Please enjoy your stay here - Bring a lunch and enjoy the fountain and the gardens.

Fun Facts About the Park (Taken from Link)

* The bronze statue of "Flo-Jo" is from her winning the 100 meters at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
* The design and use of Olympic symbols were approved by the US Olympic Team.
* The original light fixtures within the tot lot area are from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
* The upper gardens were designed with five different sections, like the Olympic Rings, all connected by a dry stream bed. (The garden entry & wood shelter, sundial garden, community rose garden, aromatic herb garden, and walled garden room.)
* The community rose garden section has been appropriately planted with the "Olympiad" red rose.
