The Trees

This cache is located not far off of Highway 287 yet it seems like it should be in another place altogether. To find it, turn off the 287 at N41°53.883'--W107°17.241' on a dirt road which heads directly west. Take the first right which is only a short distance ahead. This road travels mostly north. Follow it until you get to 'The Trees' and your GPS can guide you from there. If you come from the north, you will be tempted to turn off the highway much farther north as your GPS will tell you that you are not very far away but there is a gate there and I'm not sure if you can use it or not. The road to the cache is not maintained yet it is in reasonably good shape. You can take a car over it but it is pretty rocky with lots of gopher piles so a low clearance vehicle might have difficulty. Judge for yourself. Also, in the winter it may be difficult to get there as it may drift in places (I've never been there in the winter). This road follows the old route of highway 287 (many, many years ago) and I imagine these trees were planted here as a wind or snow break for the highway. This is a place that when I was much younger (a hundred years ago), we used to go to for keggers and we always refered to it as, you guessed it, The Trees! I hope you enjoy your excursion here. Bring a camera and perhaps a picnic lunch, both are quite appropriate.... Enjoy!
Please replace the cache exactly as you found it so it is equally as challenging for the next cacher as it was for you! Good hunting! If you are the first to find this cache, don't forget to take the FTF card as a momento of your accomplishment and I will give you credit here. P.S. There is another cache not far from here but it is much more difficult to get to. If you are up for a bit more of a challenge, search for the 'Hippy Van' cache. Good luck!
