Geocache Description:

In the late 1800’s Charles Lighthipe opened a quarry for traprock (volcanic basalt & diabase), below "Washington Rock”, at the end of South Mountain (Images 1 & 2). Essex county purchased the quarry in 1913, to add to the park.

The base was fenced in relatively recently, to prevent the climbing of the cliff face. Climbing was considered too treacherous, since many climbers had to be rescued by the Millburn Fire Department. Recommended parking is at Locust Grove off Glen Ave in Millburn (N 40 43.662, W 074 18.243). Your quarry is a 5x4x3 inch plastic box containing tokens, pins, small action figures and toys as well as a log book and pencils. Please be certain the cache container is securely latched before leaving.

We hope you enjoy the cache as much as we did placing it.
