A Secret Meeting Place Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Freelanders: We went out to replace the container today and were greeted with a large herd of bulls guarding the entrance to the field and also completely surrounding the hiding place [V][V] We also noticed that the footpath sign at the start of the walk has gone missing, making it difficult to see where to go.
This field seems to be regularly used for cows and bulls now and in view of the number of times the cache has disappeared recently, the distance we have to travel for maintenance and the relatively few visitors these days, we have reluctantly decided to archive the cache. Very sad after over 10 years [:(]
Thanks to all those who have visited this lovely place.

Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are for the parking area directly in front of the Loughwood Meeting House, one of the oldest Baptist churches in England, which is owned by the National Trust.

The Meeting House was built around 1653 and the congregation attended services there at the risk of imprisonment or transportation.
For this reason it was dug into the hill-side and built in the middle of Lough Wood on what was then the border between 2 counties– members would keep watch during services and if soldiers arrived to arrest the preacher he was able to escape through a door near the pulpit into the next county where they were not allowed to follow.

Today the area has been cleared of woodland and the place is in full view.
The chapel is still used for services twice a year, in early July and 27th August, at 4pm.

The questions below can be answered from the outside of the Meeting House, but while you are there it is well-worth a quick look inside – the place is unmanned, admission is free and the door appears to be left unlocked at all times ( NB. The door opens inwards).

1. How many arched windows are there? Answer = A

2. How many triangular caps are there on the chimney? Answer = B

3. In what year did Rev.George Medway die? Answer = CDEF

4. When did Rev Sidnie Newbery first go to the Congo? Answer = GHJK

The cache, a 1 litre container, is hidden about a mile away at:

N50. (K-J)D. CGK W003.(F-D)(B+J). GH(A-B)

Checksum of all digits is 47.

There is roadside parking opposite the pub of this picturesque village and you will need to follow the public footpath down by the stream.

Please note that during rainy periods the ground beside the river could become wet and muddy.
