Geocache Description:

The Vitosha mountain, at 1800 m above the sea level, on the eastern slopes of Cherni Vrah (2290 m) which is the highest Vitosha's peak. The ski resort is only 22 km far from Sofia.

The National Forestry Board, a division of the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, includes departments that govern, manage and protect the forests, lands and waters. It actively provides support through direction and guidance of activities within the park territories.

Vitosha Nature Park Directorate is a branch of the National Forestry Board within the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and has the following functions:

· Develop and provide the Management Plan of the park.
· Supervise forestry activities, accessory use, building regulations and guarding of the park territory.
· Planning and monitoring of special research of the park’s flora and fauna, assessing environmental impact of natural and human factors, as well as the preservation and restoration of natural systems.
· Population management of the plant and animal species, including reintroduction programs and exclusion of exotics.
· Creation and staffing of the visitor information center, implementation of educational programs for park visitors, creation and publication of information and advertisement materials (multimedia) and the provision of souvenirs.
· Planning, constructing, and controlling tourist itineraries, recreation areas and other architectural elements within the park.
· Organizing and implementing recreational activities.
