Geocache Description:

NOTE: THIS CACHE IS LOCATED BY A RIVER WHICH CAN FLOOD QUICKLY AFTER HEAVY RAIN AT WHICH TIMES THIS SERIES SHOULD PERHAPS BE AVOIDED. IT IS PROBABLY BEST FOR AN ADULT TO RETRIEVE THE CACHE GIVEN THE PROXIMITY TO FLOWING WATER.

This is a regular cache requiring the hunter to visit some of my home town’s minor “glories” before finding it in The Shire County Park, so named because of its links to The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkein, for whom parts of the park and its surrounding area were his childhood playground. Indeed, at Sarehole Mill, said to be the inspiration for Hobbiton, there is an annual Tolkein weekend.

In honour of my kids who, well, hang out in and around Hall Green, this cache can only be claimed after finding HOHG – Parts 1 and 2. These contain key information for this the Final cache.

The cache is not at the listing co-ordinates but can be found at:

N52 **.***

W001 **.***

The missing co-ordinates can be worked out using the following Questions / Answers (see the additional waypoints listed below):

Q1 How old was Mary, daughter of Richard and Beth Swinburn, when she died? (N 52° 26.025 W 001° 50.390)

Q2 What are the second, third and fourth numbers in the registered charity number of this drama group? (N 52° 26.545 W 001° 50.116)

Q3 What is Hall Green's post code area number: B**?

The North degrees = A3 – 3. The North seconds = ((A1 x A3) / 2) – A3.

The first three missing West co-ordinates = A2. The remaining West co-ordinates = (A3 – A1) x 10.

The cache itself is a lunchbox containing another box with the log book, plus a few other goodies. The box is hidden up inside a hollowed out tree trunk right by the water. Please put the cache back as tidily as possible.

The area is popular with dog walking and even occasional pony riding muggles so please be cautious.

Parking is readily available at or close to each of the clues. If you are attempting the whole set, it would be best if you collected all clues for each cache before setting off into the park. Assuming you are combining this with HOHG Parts 1 and 2, I suggest you park at N52 26.580; W001 51.341. From there, taking in all caches and back again, is a walk of about 2 ¾ miles.
