Geocache Description:

At 2pm on Saturday June 10th the Huntsville Land Trust has a tour of the historic 3 caves quarry. I need an accurate number of people to let the Land Trust people know how many will be on the tour. Please specify how many you will be bringing.

IF THERE IS RAIN OR THUNDERSTORMS THEY CANCEL THE TOURS.

Confirmation Update as of 6/7. I spoke with Cathie Mayne at the Landtrust office today. The 2pm public tour will be fine for us. At this time there were aproximately 20 people interested in the tour. I will update her on Friday as to any additions. The total number attending the Three Caves tour is important as they request reservations to ensure adequate guides per tour.

***Will meet in the The Huntsville Land Trust (HLT), Monte Sano Preserve Parking lot for the CITO around noon and then drive down to the Three Caves area parking lot around 1:30-1:45. It's about a mile.

Directions to Three Caves: From California St., turn onto Hermitage and go all the way up the hill, left onto Kennemer Drive, park in The Land Trust parking lot (last gate at end of street). Due to rocky terrain, no sandals, strollers, or pets, please.
Coordinates to the 3 Cave Parking entrance:

From the Hsv Landtrust page:

Don't miss this oh so "cool" tour - cool as in 55 degrees year `round! Located in the heart of Huntsville, rock from this former limestone quarry was used in roads for the young city becoming known as "The Rocket City." Mining ended in 1952 and Three Caves is developing into a natural cave, offering a glimpse into a unique geological window in time. Visitors will see rocks that turn green in the light, baby
stalagmites and smooth calcified rocks known as cave pearls.
Free to the public - reservations required.

There are several nearby caches to the LT Hikers Parking Lot, a partial list includes:
