If possible go for this cache on a hot day, when the cool breezes drifting off Boulder Creek will refresh you as you head up the road. Spring is a good time as the snow melt will be cascading down and the water's cool power will energize you up the gentle hills. Everything will be green and lush. I also recommend listening to music, James Taylor, and riding a mountain bike.
Hey, that was what happened to me today. If you have half as much fun as I did you will love this cache. It would be a great hike too.
The beginning of this journey starts over four humps put up to keep cars off the road. This was a forest service road before a wild thunder storm made a flash flood which caused what you will see at the cache site. After the bumps the road surface is great and the creek is beautiful.
At N.48 47.799 W 118 14.385 take the left hand turn, you will know you have missed this turn if the road is suddenly covered with rocks. Then when you see the grass clearing follow your gpsr.
After you find the cache if you want to go for a longer ride head back to the main Boulder Creek Road and keep going up hill. There's lots more to see and miles, uphill, to ride.
To get to the parking area, take Highway 395 north from Colville or Kettle Falls. Turn left on Boulder Creek Road (also known as Highway #21). Go about 2 miles up the road and park at N48*49.124/W118*12.914. This is USFS Road #6110, a dirt road which is closed to highway traffic.
