Cape Town International TB Hotel Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GlobalRat: Unfortunately the dummy cache lasted much longer then the real cache and getting the proposed cache container here is going to require a vehicular trip which will not happen soon. So sadly this one will be archived for now to allow another cacher to place something more secure in the area. If not, Iโ€™ll unarchive this one when an opportunity presents itself.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A Travel Bug Hotel near Cape Town International Airport

This is a Travel Bug Hotel. Please do not leave or take anything except for trackable items, i.e. Travel Bugs, Geocoins etc.

Please do not take ALL the travel bugs. It's OK to take more than one if you can genuinely help them along, but try to let everyone have a chance to participate.

It's OK to just stop by and pick up a bug without leaving one, if you can help it on it's journey.

When you leave a travel bug, write its goal in the log book beneath the name of the TB so that people can decide which bug to take. Preferably, ensure that TB's that you drop off are placed in an individual ziploc bag along with the TB's "Bug Sheet" which you can print from the Travel Bug's page on Geocaching.com, see pic below.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOG ALL BUG TRANSACTIONS IN THE LOG BOOK AND ON THE WEB PAGE.

Rules of the Hotel:

1. Guests may check into the Hotel 24 hours a day.

2. No loud music after 22h00.

3. This is a non-smoking establishment.

4. Only one find per cacher, please. Additional visits should be logged as notes.

The management wishes you a very pleasant stay and safe travels on your journey.

Now for the cache:

The cache is a short walk from both Domestic and International terminals. You could do the round trip in 15 min, but allow 30 minutes. In order to reach the cache, you will need to cross a busy road if walking, so please take care when crossing the roads, especially if children are accompanying you. Although the cache is available 24/7, it would be unwise to do this cache at night, especially if you are alone and do not know the area well.

Avoid doing the cache at peak times in morning and afternoon. There is a road above the cache and people often get on/off cabs and busses nearby and you may be noticed. When retrieveing the cache, make sure you are not being watched from above, retrieve the cache and move a short distance away while doing your thing.

If you are walking from the terminals, follow the WPT's in the following order:-
Domestic: WPT1 -> WPT2 -> WPT3 -> WPT4 -> CACHE
International: WPT2 -> WPT3 -> WPT4 -> CACHE

If you are driving, park at WPT3 (BP Filling Station) then proceed to WPT4 -> CACHE. DO NOT park on the road near the cache, it is illegal and dangerous.

The cache is in a 2.6l container. As you approach from WPT4, it will be under the second bush on your left, and against the trunk.
