Geocache Description:

The schedule for this event has not been set yet. I want to get the word out as soon as I could. I will update the schedule when confirmed.

Come on out and enjoy the great outdoors with a geocaching event at the Port Crescent State Park on June 10th from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Bring a dish to pass. Just finger foods and the like.

In an effort to promote the use of Parks and Recreation Areas and the sport and enjoyment of geocaching, the Port Crescent State Park and the SE Chapter of Michigan Geocaching.org are partnering to bring you this event.

  • Meet at the Port Crescent State Park pavilion in the day use area at 11:00 am.

  • Gary O'Boyle from the Michigan Geocaching Organization will present a Geocaching 101 class. This class is geared for entry level geocachers.

  • We will go over geocaching and the policy in place for state parks and recreation areas with an open question and answer session.

  • Several event geocaches will be hidden. After the class we will go find the event caches.

  • Ends at 2:00pm or until.

Port Crescent State Park is located at the tip of Michigan's "thumb" along three miles of sandy shoreline of Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay. Some of the modern campsites offer a waterfront view, either of the Bay or the Old Pinnebog River channel. Port Crescent recently added a new camper cabin which sleeps six and has a scenic view of Saginaw Bay. A wooden boardwalk parallels the day-use shoreline offering many scenic vistas of Saginaw Bay. The park also offers excellent fishing, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, birding, and hunting opportunities.

Camping is available. Click here to check site availability.

A Michigan State Park Motor Vehicle Permit is required for entry.
