Geocache Description:

A three stage multi that is a moderate walk with some elevation gain over well marked trails and colonial roads in a Shaker village. Please stay on marked trails. All waypoints except WP#2 are within 5 feet of the trail, are winter friendly, and none are in stone walls. The trails abut private property, do not stray from the trails. Intermediate waypoints should cause few problems to experienced cachers. Please cache only during daylight hours.

This cache will take you through time to when the Shakers lived in Harvard. Parking is @ N 42.31.769 W 71.33.743 On the way to WP#1 you will see old cellarholes and hayfields that are still in use today. Notice the beautiful stone walls that delineate the countryside. WP#2 can be reached two ways, I prefer taking the slightly longer route because of less elevation gain. [On the way to WP#2 a side trip to the right onto Maple Alley you will see amazing artifacts both old and newer as you travel on a colonial road through century old maples. Especially notice the enormous barn foundation and the ramp to the loft. The land abutting the road in this area is private, please respect the owner's rights.] Be sure to spend time reading the sign between WP#2 and WP#3. We hope you enjoy this area as much as we did. It is a real jewel.
