Forest walk in Bennachie area. Steepish path, but good trail and waymarked. Offroad stroller would be a slog, very young children may struggle.
Park at the Back O'Bennachie Forest walks car park at NJ 661 244, just off the B9002, NW of Inverurie. There are toilets, information board and a big barbecue, picnic area here, but few if any bins?
This cache is the third one to be placed on the slopes of Bennachie, with Bennachie Booty by Geoki being the original. I thought it would be a good idea to link them up so you could 'collect the set' as it were, and hopefully encourage more people to spend time in this lovely area. I hope to place a few more in the surrounds in the future, as there are so many walks around here.
Begin the walk by following the yellow/orange marked path out of the car park into the forest. Rannoch my hound likes this walk best as it follows a stream almost all the way. Just as you clear the tree line you will see an orange marker pointing right, and a faint path in the heather to the left. Take this smaller trail, not for long, just far enough to begin to get the views.
Cache is hidden within some boulders. Contains the usual gubbins plus F2F bonus, and my first Geocoin - Cache Bandit. Please make sure you replace the stones well to hide it. Then sit back and enjoy the views...or go back to the main path and head for the top! Allow 30-45 minutes to the cache.
