Merritt, Calif. was a small “populated place” located at N 38º
36’ 51” W 121º 45’ 34” in Yolo County, California. The town had
access to the railroad and there is, currently, a large
agricultural concern located in the vicinity of the old town site.
Also, according to one map we found, a drive-in movie theater was
once located here. Perhaps some local old-timers will remember it
and tell us about it in their logs.
This quadrangle-cache project was launched as a result of the
locationless cache
Fill in the Blanks (GC5A04). In our previous quadrangle
placements we have tried for “underserved” areas. Our project is
now morphing into being quadrangle-naming related. Much of the city
of Davis and of UC Davis is located within the Merritt Quadrangle
and there are many caches to be found in the quadrangle. The
nearest cache is, however, 2.0 miles southeast of this
location.
The Merritt Quadrangle boundaries are:
N 38º 30’ 00” and N 38 37’ 30”
W 121º 45’ 00” and W 121º 52’ 30”
