Just off a packed trail - less than 50 feet, no serious hazards
May 27 2010 Due to the effects of nature, I am raising the difficulty and terrain ratings. The tornadic winds and spring growth have made the markers harder to find and one of the exit markers is totally gone. Know that once you have been guided by the dot to a trail you need to stay on THAT trail and not change trails unless directed by the dots.
Do you sometimes see spots before your eyes? On this cache that is to be expected – it’s all about following the dots. The dots CAN be seen during the day, so it doesn’t have to be done at night, but doing it by flashlight will make it easier and, I think, more fun and adventuresome. There are approximately 18 waypoints through the trails of Lake Thunderbird State Park, for a total distance of .6 miles. The ammo box may be found in the middle – near the 9th (10th or 11th; we added a couple) marker, then, turn around and follow the rest of the markers back to the parking lot. The trail ends right where it began, so you could walk backwards and find it as well – but I wouldn’t advise that! Also note that half of the markers will bring you back to your car, so don't turn around too soon, and stay on the trails! I’m starting out with a travel bug in the cache and I hope that this will become a good bug exchange point.
