Geocache Description:

With the previous cache here going missing it seemed a shame that people would miss out on such beautiful views whilst combining caching, so we decided to introduce a new cache but obviously at a different position and requiring a little more brain scratching! This is an offset cache in a peaceful area and as usual one with some interesting history.

The cache is located close to the village of East Knoyle in Wiltshire, an area with plenty of history including connections with Sir Christopher Wren and Jane Seymour, for further information see: (visit link)

Parking is easy, either near the green at N51º 04.873 W002º 11.119 where you can enjoy refreshments at the Fox and Hounds and learn a little history of the Windmill with the various pictures on the walls or alternatively you can park closer to the view and windmill at N51º 04.693 W002º 10.988. However, finding the cache will take you relatively close to the pub and by that time you may be thirsty.

The co-ordinates of the cache can be found by proceeding to the above co-ordinates and counting the number of wrought iron gates around the base of the windmill: the answer is A, then count the number of blanked off or shuttered windows and doors in the structure (is it 10, 13 or 18) your answer here is BC Note, D is 3xA+B

The final cache is at: N51º 04.D(D+B)C W002º 11.A(D-B)D

Walking to this cache, initially across a grassed area, will not require you to leave the footpath by more than a few feet. Some difficulty may be experienced due to the tree cover in places, hence the 2.5 Star Difficulty Rating. The final cache is a plastic 2 litre lunchbox within a camouflage bag. It contains all the usual stuff along with of course the logbook.
