Replacement cache placed on September 11th 2022 Cache relocated August 26th 2016 due to a major upgrade of the marina involving groundworks, rebuilding all of the old and new berths, installing new boat launching ramps and the creation of a swimming beach. Cache replaced March 7th 2010 as recent scrub clearing and ground works in the area made cache maintenance difficult. The area around the cache now is quite open so take care, watch for muggles, when seeking.
Welcome to Motuoapa Village and Marina on the shores of Lake Taupo. This is the largest lake in New Zealand and was formed by the largest volcanic eruption in the history of the country. Enjoy the walk, birdlife and views as you stroll to find this cache. Watch out for muggles in boats as they enter and depart from the marina. Turnoff SH 1 at S 38 55.934 E 175 52.545, park and lock at S38 55.934 E 175 52.410. Walk easy grass track to cache site, off the ground in the greenery.
