Kvanntomysteriet Mystery Cache

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

The given coordinates are to the starting point and not to the cache.

For å finne ut av mysteriet er det en rekke oppgaver som må løses. Det gjør du på vei opp til Kvanntokollen. Jada.... du Må opp dit for å finne alle nødvendige opplysninger. Men det passer vel bra, for da kan du også få med deg ”Kvanntokollen” også.

NB! Selv om bommen nede ved veien skulle stå åpen, må du ikke kjøre forbi. Når du kommer ned igjen kan du nemlig finne den stengt. Og da har du et problem. Så gå (eller sykle) fra bommen. Turen opp til toppen er nøyaktig 6 kilometer.

Skriv ut denne siden, eller sørg i hvert fall for å ha med noe å skrive med og på. Du trenger det. Her er oppgavene:

  • A= Antall autovern på begge sider av veien fra parkering til topps.
  • B= Antall møteplasskilt langs veien fra parkering til veikrysset ved N68 31.029 E16 34.496 (altså på de første 3,1 km).
  • C= Antall trepåler i det nest øverste autovernet.
  • D= Antall trepåler i det øverste autovernet
  • E= Antall strømledninger på tremast etter veikrysset ved N68 31.029 E16 34.496.
  • F= Antall strømledninger på metallmast etter det samme veikrysset.
  • G= Antall radarspeil på toppen (ikke tell med de som er en del av selve bygget).
  • H= Antall metallrør (se bort fra det første og siste som ser ut som rør) i de to feristene på veien opp.


Dermed har du alle opplysningene du trenger til å finne cachen på disse koordinatene:
N68 31.(A-F)(C-H)(B-E) E16 35.D(D-C) (Ser du ingen * så skal du heller ikke multiplisere)

Og til slutt.... du bør absolutt beregne å ta det hele fra start. Ikke ta det på nedvei. Det kan bety ekstra kilometre å gå!

To solve the mystery you have to solve several tasks. You do this as you walk all the way to Kvanntokollen. Yep... you HAVE to go there to find all necessary information. But why not... you can also get another cache, ”Kvanntokollen”.

NB! If the gate is open at the start of this gravel road, you should not drive past it. You could risk it beeing closed when you get down. So walk (or use a bicycle) from the gate. The trip is quite long, exactly 6 km. But it is worth it.

Print this page or at least bring paper and pen. You’ll need it. Here are what you’ll have to find out:

  • A= Number of crash fences on both sides of the road from parking to the top.
  • B= Number of M-sign posts along the route from parking to the intersection at N68 31.029 E16 34.496 (ie. the first 3,1 km).
  • C= Number of wooden poles in the second to last crash fence.
  • D= Number of wooden poles in the last crash fence.
  • E= Number of powerlines on the wooden pylon (first after the intersection at N68 31.029 E16 34.496.
  • F= Number of powerlines on the metal pylon.
  • G= Number of radar discs (se photo) on the top (not counting the ones which are part of the building).
  • H= Number of metal tubes (be sure not to count those that looks like tubes) in the two cattle-grids on the way.


And now you have the information needed to find the coordinates to the cache:
N68 31.(A-F)(C-H)(B-E) E16 35.D(D-C) (if there is not a * you shall not multiply)

And finally... you should find all info from the start. Do not take it as you descend. That may mean more kilometres to walk!
