Begin at the equestrian center and hike the 50 Year Trail. The cache is about 1.3 miles from the trailhead. You can bike it on a mountain bike -- it'll be tough in spots and pretty much uphill the whole way, but the ride back will be spectacular!
This trail continues beyond the boundaries of the Catalina State Park onto state trust land. You normally need a permit to use state trust land but there is a 50 year use lease for horseback riding, hiking, and biking (thus the trail name), so you don't need one. You don't need to go that far for this cache anyway, but if you wanted to make a long through hike of it, it's good to know. You can also hike in from the other end, but it will make for a much longer hike (8 miles?).
You will be looking out over a beautiful valley that sits between the cache and the Catalina Mountains. Interestingly enough, Wilhelm Reich, in his book Contact With Space, claims he rescued this desert from aliens in 1954 by using his Orgone space gun. I'll leave you to ponder the truth of his claims!
