HAINE TRAVEL BUG STASH Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

pafarmboy: Well, it’s been a good run, but I’ve decided to archive caches as they come up muggled, missing, or in need of maintenance. When 4 different persons/groups of people come up empty on 4 different hides, something needs to change. The reality is I spend more time checking on caches than finding them nowadays.

I will continue to maintain Raccoon Loop and the 2 Bond caches if they break down, but the rest are going into the mothballs as soon as there is an issue. The enthusiasm and energy just isn’t there anymore. If you would like to “adopt” the 2 James Bond caches that have never seen the light of day, I have all of the framework ideas, cache spots, Q gadgets and most of the other materials and containers. They have already been approved by the DNCR too. I’d hate to see ‘em just waste away so I’d be more than happy to trek out there with you and run through everything I’ve come up with. Heck, I’d LOVE to be able to find the dang things instead of placing them. Contact me and we’ll go for a walk……

Finally, to all of you that have favorited my caches, written a great log, or have word of mouthed that my neck of the woods is worth the trip, I thank you. It is much appreciated and truly means a lot.

Geocache Description:

This cache is an Exploratory Activity Project sponsored by Haine Middle School in Cranberry Township. As an introduction to the sport of Geocaching, the students will be introduced to geocaching.com, a few temporary hides around the school (besides this cache, which is permanent), and Travel Bugs.

Since we can't afford GPS units for the students to use, we thought a good alternative would be to place a cache with individual Travel Bugs for each student. Hopefully this will give them the Geocaching bug (pun intended).

The cache is located in the Cranberry Township Municipal Park, right off the Nature Trail.

****As of May 28th 2006, all initial Travel Bugs have been picked up and our on their way to various caches around the globe. We would like to thank all the geocachers in the area who made our experience such a success. Two thumbs way up!****

***May 25, 2007, 24 more travel bugs were placed. Good luck travelers!***
