Located in the El Capitan Open Space Preserve off of Wildcat Canyon Road.
The preserve has finally opened after being closed due to the devastating Cedar Creek Fire. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. This is a nice place to take a break and enjoy the wonderful view. If you're on the way to El Cajon Mt. this is also a place to reflect on how committed you are to this hike. It gets a lot tougher from here out. The steep hills you descend now will have to be climbed again on your way back. The choice is yours to make. Please be careful of rattlers, they exist in great numbers here.
