Geocache Description:

A small cache hidden at the place that recorded the lowest temperature in South Africa.

It is generally accepted in SA that Sutherland is the coldest place in the country. But in 1990 the temperature dropped to -18,6°C on the farm Buffelsfontein in the Molteno district - hence the name of the cache. Officially this is the lowest temperature measured in SA. On the day that I placed the cache it was a mere 4,5°C with a chilly wind blowing.

The cache is a small 100ml screwtop container with a logsheet. Very small items can be traded. PLEASE BRING OWN PEN TO COMPLETE LOG!

Be careful when retrieving the cache - farmworkers may watch you and muggle the cache. It is placed with permission of the owner of the farm - he was very interested in the caching-story, and welcomed the placing of the cache as tourist attraction to the farm.
