Cache is a 1.5 litre metal and glass container, hidden in the valley above Brown Bay, beside Brown Creek. There is road access for all but the last 10 metres.
Initially the cache contained logbook, biro, pencil, pencil sharpener, swaps and a travel bug.
On the return trip to Cairns after finding the cache you can enjoy the intermittent views out across Trinity Inlet towards Cairns City and the Northern Beaches.
Before heading back however, you might like to visit the small beach and car park area at Koombal, found by turning down the bitumen road (at 16º 53.123S 145º 50.149). Also another interesting stop is to continue on up the main road past the cache to the lookout over Yarrabah and Mission Bay, or even continue past there and down to the Yarrabah aboriginal community itself.
I was originally considering placing the cache at False Cape near the Gun emplacements, which used to be accessible by walking along the rocks and beach from Koombal. It is a great spot there, however the road and land at Sunny Bay is now in the process of development into a resort.
