This cache is on the Tamarack Trail. This is another of the
homestead sites as you can tell by the stone walls. There sure were
a lot of families that lived on this acreage. There are more large
rocks off the trail in this area than we saw anywhere else.
At some point on your hike, stop at N41 46.636 W072 13.114 (off
the Nipmuck trail) and see the 2 chimnies. They are well worth
seeing. This must have been a GRAND place to live at one time.
In total there are nineteen trails within Schoolhouse Brook
Park, including a portion of the Nipmuck Trail. It is mature woods
with views of a colonial mill site and many house sites and
historic stone walls. This area includes Bicentennial Pond
Recreation Area where the kids can play and you can picnic.
Bicentennial Pond is a good fishing spot.
NONE OF THE CACHES ARE HIDDEN IN FOUNDATIONS OR STONE WALLS
Most of the trails are relatively flat and all are named. There
are only a couple of them with modest grades.
