This cache is at Dunnideer Hill Fort. Parking can be found at N 57 20.569 W 002 38.279. Although the path is fairly steep, it is short and the views from the top are exceptionally satisfying.
My favourite part about the for is the vitrified rock. Vitrification is the process of converting a material into a glass-like amorphous solid which is free of any crystalline structure, either by the quick removal or addition of heat, or by mixing with an additive. This process can clearly be seen in the massive clumps of granite around the top of the fort, remainders of the origional fort. The views from the fort itself are great and is in most weathers. are panoramic and you can clearly see a couple of iron age forts in different directions. No matter what time of year, it is alway so dress warmly. There are quite a few rabbit holes about so be careful of your footing.
