This has only been a test… Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Catastrophics: This old cache hasn't had many visitors lately, so I'm taking it out of service. I've picked up the box and I'll think about finding a better place. Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

Try parking at 40 30.374N 111 54.325W. The gravel road is driveable to this point and will end at the barricades, from there on its an easy walk.

You may be tempted to try an approach from the south from Bangerter Hwy but I don't think it would be safe to park along the Hwy and I'm not sure of the terrain in that direction. If you are approaching from the Jordan River Walkway take the path that goes by the "Cracked" geocache and follow it up the hill, along the railroad, across the railroad, back along the path... on second thought don't come from that direction unless you are really looking for a good workout.

The geocache will look like a regular sized container covered with camo tape. Read the laminated insert in the cache to understand the name of this cache. When logging your find, don't mention by name what you might pick up at the mystery location, just say "I took one" and I'll know what you mean. Yes, this part is a little cryptic but once you've been to the cache you'll understand.

Watch for deer, fox and ground hogs, especially in the evening. Geocache was originally stocked with the type of stuff you normally find in geocaches. It will be easy to create a geotrail to this cache so tread lightly, approach from different directions and try to keep it challenging for the next people. There are a couple of micros nearby you may want to pick up while you're in the area.

1 April 2007. Checked on condition of cache. plastic box is still in good shape after the winter although the camo tape has discolored and is beginning to peel. Contents still in good shape.

9 March 2008. Checked the cache, it's still in good shape but not much camoflauge left on it and this time of year it really sticks out. When the grass grows back up it will be hidden well enough. Still dry inside so the container is doing its job.

19 April 2009. Checked the cache. Still in good shape but it's really easy to see since there is no grass growing around it yet. It may have to retire soon since I see the area is being surveyed. I understand this may be the route for the light rail line that is going to go south to Provo.

14 July 2010. Checked the cache. Still in place, still in good condition. Not much Camo left but in the high weeds you'd have to be looking pretty hard to notice it just by chance.
