the cache is located along highway 49 on the scenic north fork of the yuba river a few miles west of downieville. it is one of a series that i call "the road to downieville."
you will notice a steep trail that goes down to the river, with a mining claim sign on a tree next to the trail. do not go down the trail. instead, look for a double oak tree with a three foot fir tree growing at the base of it.
