Grand Lake Loons Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Go to Junction Rd - off of Grand Lake Rd.
Go to the end - turn right.
(you may want to walk in from here)
Go about 100 meters.
Take road to the left, which goes over the tracks, and go to the right.
Follow road in to the edge of the lake and park there.
This is the lake that used to supply water for the Steel Plant and Coke Ovens. Pump house is now gone but the pipes are all still in the ground. If they go ahead with the plan to incinerate the Tar Ponds PCB's, and carry it to Victoria Junction by rail, this is the lake it will go past. Hopefully, that won't happen.
This is a very popular fishing spot so watch for fishermen.
If you come in the evening you will probably hear the loons. I can hear them from my house about a mile away.
Also, BEWARE OF BEAVER!!!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE LID BACK ON TIGHTLY, AND MAKE SURE IT IS SECURE IN THE BAG. AND COVERED.
Cache is not winter friendly.
