This cache is our 2nd one
hidden in this small park on the shore of Higgins
Lake.
About 10 years ago there were some bones found here on the beach.
The news and people around the area were quite excited about the
find, many thought the bones may have belonged to a dinosaur!!
After turning the beach into an archaeological dig site and
carefully clearing the sand away from the bones, it was found
that....
It was just a horse!
I am not sure about the exact details of the story, I just have
been able to find out a few things. So far, I have learned that the
horse was most likely from the logging days when people hauled logs
across the lake during the winter. It must have fallen in and
drowned when the lake levels were much higher than they are
now.
If you come to the area and know more about the story, please
let me know and I'll add the info to this description!
Cache is a camo-ed container containing a log book, pencil,
trade items and a baggie for signature cards. It is back in the
wood further then the 1st version, but PLEASE watch the
Private Property lines. It is hidden on the park
land.
Use caution, this is a highly muggled area during the summer
months, and parking may be limited.
The police patrol the area often, so be careful you don't get
a parking ticket!
