Geocache Description:

Used to be, geocaches were not contained in 1/1 park-and-grab saturations peppering urban areas forming huge almost-uniform grids with cell dimensions of 529 feet.

Used to be, there were not light pole hides everywhere. Not every single parking lot had one, two, or three film cans hidden somewhere within.

Used to be, it was not possible to drive in a car, from spot to spot, and find a total of 60something geocaches in a single day without walking any farther than 50 feet from the car, or for that matter, even turning off the car.

Used to be, easy drive-up geocaches existed, but in moderation. They were the exception and not the rule. The geocache in the recreational park area, which required that you walk at least a quarter-mile or so, was the much more common type.

Not anymore.

Today, large areas are flooded with effortless geocaches. I am not against the occasional easy and simple hide. In fact, I appreciate an occasional light pole, especially when I have just had three straight dnfs. So we need some of those. But such hides become meaningless, when it reaches a point in an area where there is one after another after another. The overall integrity of the sport is reduced. Groundspeak seems to share the concern. They even have a guideline stated like this, "...don't go cache crazy and hide a cache every 600 feet just because you can..." Regardless of that statement, there seems to be quite a bit of cache craziness going on out there. I imagine it is not easy for reviewers to apply that guideline. Perhaps Groundspeak will establish better guidance and a better system one of these days.

About this geocache...

This geocache is an easy one. Furthermore, it is a micro, hidden in a common way. It is similar to so many of the park-and-grabs out there. However, you won't be able to drive up to this one. You will have to walk (or roll if you roll). If you do it the right way, your walk will be at least a quarter-mile one-way. That is over a whole half-mile round trip!

Have fun. Enjoy the walk, and the nice view. This is a nice area.
