NONE OF THE CACHES ARE HIDDEN IN FOUNDATIONS OR STONE WALLS
Barrows Pond is a pleasant sight amidst all the trees. It is
Memorial Weekend when hiding the caches here, and the water lillies
are just beginning to bloom. They are always pretty jettying out
from their green pads on the water. There is a spillway near the
cache and the sound of the water is music to the ears. We hope you
enjoy this oasis after you find a medium sized Lock n Lock
container.
We've kept the hides straightforward and have given good hints
due to some bounce in these heavy woods. We want you to enjoy the
scenery in this great park. In total there are nineteen trails
within Schoolhouse Brook Park, including a portion of the Nipmuck
Trail. It is mature woods with views of a colonial mill site and
many house sites and historic stone walls. This area includes
Bicentennial Pond Recreation Area where the kids can play and you
can picnic. Bicentennial Pond is a good fishing spot.
Most of the trails are relatively flat terrain and all are named
and well marked with white blazes. There are only a couple of them
with modest grades. The trails do have roots and rocks, but you CAN
use your mountain bikes. We met numerous cyclists along our hike.
There are also trails designated for cross country skiing
