Loopy Travel Bug Drop Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of Loopy Travel Bug Drop to find out about the status of this cache on May 17, 2010. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Loopy Travel Bug Drop

This small cache, which consists of a sticker, and a ring, forms part of a loop-hike connecting Great Brook Farm State Park to the Carlisle Cranberry Bog. See the bottom of the page for links to the caches on the return portion of the loop. It should be possible to park once & hike to caches all day. It is best to have a copy of the Great Brook Farm State Park trail map when starting this cache. Copies of Trail Maps are available at the two main parking areas (waypoints), or at the link below.
Trail Map (visit link)

This cache is the first half of a loop starting in the Cranberry Bog, entering Great Brook Farm State Park (do caches there) and returning to the Cranberry Bog passing three other caches (Fern Loop, Return to Tradition #5 Otter Slide, and Elephant-Hump/Elephant-Nose).

This multi-cache is unusual: The locations of both the sticker and the ring(s) are given here. Each one gives half of the information needed to locate the final.

To begin your quest Park at the Bog House (N42 33.056 W71 22.183) and locate the sticker by looking for some sign of Cranberries.. Copy the minutes of Latitude, N42 ??.???). Enjoy the view of the Cranberry Bog.

Walking distance from the Bog to GBF can be reduced to 0.3 mile, here, if you now Park your car East of River Meadow Brook (the brook that exits the Bog East of you). Alternately you can walk East across the bog to rejoin Curve Street.

Ring
Walk East, on Curve Street, over the hill and on the way down the hill stop with the Private way (trail easement), on the right, and the Acorn Trail on the left (North). Stand in the pull-off, East of the Private Way, south side of Curve Street (N42 33.194 W71 21.636). The pull-off was posted "No Parking" in July, 2006.

About 20 meters directly South into the forest you will see a huge 3-trunked Pine Tree. The 4-inch white ring is, about 5 feet up, on the backside of the pine.

Read the ring and record the minutes of Longitude of the cache (W71 ??.???). Continue to the cache; or you can hike to Acorn Trial, or caches past the trail easement, such as Fern Loop, Otter Slide, or Elephant-Hump/Elephant-nose. .

Final
Now you have three choices: do the final, or; You can enter the Acorn Trail & do caches there; or you can walk South on the Private Way (trail easement) for access to Fern Loop, GBF, Elephant-Hump/Elephant-nose, and/or Otter Slide. No public parking on this private drive. The Final is due East of the triple-white (triple-paper?).

This cache should contain only Travel Bugs (or Geocoins), no other trade items please. This small cache should function as a drive-by TB drop.
