Geocache Description:

Historic Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

This is the first cache in a series that I am making (and actually the first cache ever placed by me!). I work for an ambulance company as a Paramedic in the DFW Metroplex. We have a central station in Addison, but we "Post" throughout the metroplex in specific areas. The company has numbered the posts. I was planning on putting one at every post, but some are rarely used by us. I'm not sure that I can post the name of the company I work for, but I can say that all of our units have ID numbers on the side, and every company uses different formats, ours are 3 digit numbers starting with a 7 ( I'm usually assigned to 709). I'm not sure how often you will see an ambulance at these posts, just depends on the right timing I guess.

This cache has been placed at what we refer to as "Hospital District". When dispatch assigns an ambulance to Hospital District, you are really allowed to hang out anywhere in the area of Parkland, St. Paul, and Childrens, but different crews have different "favorite" spots to park. mine just happens to be at "Old Parkland" just because it's sorta spooky at night, and there's plenty of shade. It's also a Historical Landmark. I read some info online about it, opened in the late 1800's, they bought their first ambulance for about $500, and a couple weeks later, bought the horse to pull it. This is a park and grab, the parking lot at the rear of the hospital is often used by cars as a turn around or cut through, so you will need to beware of muggles. It's also a micro, so bring a pen with ya.

Update: Replaced this one on 101806. there is ALOT of construction around, so you might have to hit this one up in the evening hours.

Update: Drove by this one the other day, looks like the construction might be ending soon. I'll re-evaluate the location of the cache when the work is done. I'm a little dissapointed that they have taken this historical building and torn down most of what it was years ago, but you cant slow down progress.

update again: as noted before, there is construction going on nearby, the cache may or may not be seekable. CACHE AT YOUR OWN RISK, just as the disclaimer from geocaching.com states on this same page. also, no need posting comments telling me i need to archive, or disable due to the construction. they will be deleted. i'm 100% positive the cache is still there. just a little harder to get to.
