The definition of symbology. sym·bol·o·gy n. 1. The study or
interpretation of symbols or symbolism.
The official symbols of New Jersey include the Knobbed Whelk
(Busycon carica), a mollusk
and Hadrosaurus foulkii,a duck billed dinosaur
discovered in 1858 by William Parke Foulke in Haddonfield, New
Jersey. Hadrosaurus measured about 30 feet, weighed several
tons, was herbivorous and lived from 70 to 100 million years
ago.
This hike will take you through a part of The South Mountain
Reservation containing numerous trails that are often
underutilized. We suggest you download a map of the reservation
from the "South Mountain Conservancy" website ( www.somocon.org )
and explore the hilly terrain of this area, when time permits. The
forest canopy is thick throughout this portion of the reservation
and GPS reception is often variable. We find it helpful to use
openings in the canopy to take our readings and specifically on
this hike, to follow the unmarked wide "West Ridge Road" trail.

The first part of the cache is a theme related small object
which contains the coordinates for Part 2. It is approximately 125

Please open it in place, which is easily done, copy the
coordinates, and re-secure it so that it remains watertight. Part 2
is an easily bushwacked 250 feet off the trail.
The cache is an easily found fully stocked ammo can
containing:
- FTF token

cache's theme.
- Log book and pencils.

DOWNLOADED BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE HIKE.

Ave. Once parked, cross Brookside Drive and enter the
meadow....Trail uphill begins steeply at N 40 45.119, W 074 17.959
and then flattens out. The first part of the cache is approximately
.45 miles from the parking site. The second part of the cache will
take you back downhill towards where you parked your car. Other
parking sites are available on residential streets and in Old Short
Hills Park; both are closer to Part 1 but further from Part 2. The
total distance hiked and elevation change are similar.
We hope you enjoy this cache as much as we did placing it.
