Geocache Description:

The given co-ordinates are a suitable location to start the search. An easy stroll in and around the old village of Alwalton in the neighbourhood of Peterborough. Parking can be had along the road near the church and village post office. There is buggy access for most of the route apart from the very final few metres. Please supervise young children very carefully near water!!

NB A few comments made by finders are worth adding here. Local pub, The Cuckoo, seems to meet with approval from visitors as does the local stores at the post office, where, also, light meals and tea can be had in the tea-room. Also worth a visit in season is the local fruit picking farm along the Oundle Road and towards the direction of Elton, with its children's play area and farm shop.

This cache is very close to the A1 and could be a quick cache as the clues are close together. Co-ordinates are given for a good position to answer the clues. The answers give the missing digits for the final location of the micro-cache which contains just a very small log-book in a film canister. Please bring a pencil or pen... All clues can be solved from the public pavements and the route uses public access routes and footpaths. There can be passers-by at the cache location so please do exercise caution! When it has been very wet over a long period there could be flooding on the lower part of the route. Please take care to reposition the container so that it cannot be seen from either side of the post. NB We had some difficulty getting good fixes due to the tree cover and obtained a variety of co-ordinates. The most noticeable change was that at the end of the day the “westings” were rather higher than at the earlier part of the day. The final figures are an average of the total figures obtained. At no time is it necessary to venture into private property or into the river!

1st clue at N 52 32.946, W 000 19.755 An Australian view of the number written on rusty conduit on wooden pole above the "is the streetlight working sign" = B

2nd clue at N 52 32.952, W 000 19.761 House number of "The Laurels" = C

3rd clue at N 52 32.976, W 000 19.770 Number of “standing stones” at eastern end of building = A

4th clue at N 52 33.041, W 000 19.734 Look down the road to the unusual pale stone house with the very tall frontage. Multiply by two the number of decorative stone "spires" at the top above the arched open doorway and minus one from the answer. That single digit is D

Now enter the numbers you have found into the final location. Final location N 52 33.1AB, W 000 19.7DC
