This is the first luxemburgish cache, where one waypoint is hidden under water. It has been placed in the intention to allow a lot of people to find it (not too difficult), not only scuba divers (of course those will find it very easy).
General information:
The only difficulty is the first waypoint, depending upon the amount of water in the lake. You need a diving mask or swimming glasses. At the first waypoint, you will find a mark indicating the level of the water. If the water is up to the mark “320”, you will find the required information for the final at a depth of 2,5 m. So you can estimate how deep you have to dive, depending which mark the water level points to. Normally it is less than 2,5 m deep. It can be done without problem in winter, normally the water is then only about 0,5 m deep, but a little bit colder. Never try this waypoint, when there is ice on the lake! You have the responsibility to know, if you are able to perform this waypoint or not (always take a partner with you).
Due to the nature of the terrain (reflection of the water and vegetation), it is difficult to get exact coordinates, so also use the description to find this cache.
Description of the cache:
1 WP: Goto N 49° 54,247 E 005° 52,974. These coordinates are on land, at the edge of the lake (I did not want to get you in the water with the GPS). From here, take a bearing to 330°. At a distance of some meters you will see 4 metal pylons in the water. There you have to dive to find a sign(attached under water) with 6 numbers and an additional hint for the final on it.
Final: N 49° 54,ABC E 005° 52,DEF. Replace ABCDEF with the 6 numbers as you found them on the yellow sign. It is a small box with some trading items.
Additional information:
The cache is placed near the luxemburgish lake “Lac de la Haute Sûre”. The lake is used for drinking water supply and during the summer months a lot of people go there for swimming and picnic or simply to enjoy sunny days. The lake is also used by scuba divers and fishermen.
At this place is the departing point of the solar boat, which you can take for a ride of two hours. It departs from 15 June – 14. September every day (except Monday) at 10:00 ,13:45 and 16:00.
You can park your car at N 49° 54,086 E 005 53,073. If you drive any nearer to WP1, you have to pay during the summer months a parking fee of 6 euro at the moment. During the other time of the year, you can drive down to the lake (even if the sign indicates you have to pay), as there is nobody to pay the fee.
Final note: Take as many photos of WP1 as you wish. We all want to see people swimming and diving. But do not publish any photo of the final, as some people would look for it without looking for WP1.
