Geocache Description:

Park and cache - very near road

Kent's hop fields are now a very rare sight - this road, up from Sandhurst, has several hop fields on either side. The location is at a public footpath near two hop fields.

Kent hop types famous for their flavour are Fuggles and Goldings - these look like Goldings. There are one or two micro breweries around Kent and Sussex that brew with Fuggles and Golding hops - The Swan at West Peckham is well worth a visit.

In the good bad ole days whole families of East Londoners travelled to Kent in September for their annual holiday picking hops - it was thirsty work and most of their pay was spent in the local ale houses.
