Geocache Description:

Located in the Town of Ferndale, CA

This cache was dropped off as a conclusion to our annual HAM RADIO CONVENTION at the HUMBOLDT COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. The Humboldt County Fair is held here every year, for over 100 years and is what we in the area like to call "Cow Town"

The location is fairly open, and access is easy. There are houses nearby, so bring a lunch so it looks like you are just eating. Once you find the Cache, there are some natural places to sit and sign the log that are close, but not obvious to the cache hiding spot.

The Town of Ferndale is a great historic area of Humboldt County, CA and includes a wonderful main street with tons of shops that are fun to go inside. The area is called the "VICTORIAN VILLAGE" because many of the buildings were built in that style.... A long time ago! There are many places to eat, so stop by there first to grab some ice cream or chocolates before geocaching!

The Cache location is near an access road to get to the back country. The uphill road is a county road that is not upkept all too well. The other (flat) road is more Cow-County, and goes out to a nice beach. It is a pleasant country drive.

The Cache area does show some signs of Poison Oak, but there was none at the actual hiding spot. So, be carefull if you start to dig around in the bushes. The Cache does not require bushwacking. We trampled around the spot for 15 minutes with no ticks, so this would be a LOW on the TICK-O-METER.

This Cache area is mostly accessible to wheelchairs, except the actual grabbing of the Cache, so you will need a helper for the grab. Try to only be at this spot during daylight hours.

This is a "Small Cache", but there is room for keychains and small items for trade. Bring a pen!

"First To Find" award was a $2 wheresgeorge bill!

Thanks to GEOGADGETS team for providing the container and the goodies!
