A short scenic drive through the southern Flinders to an unusual rock formation
Being a rockclimber you start to seek out pieces of rock that might be worth climbing and some areas become a Mecca for climbers hence the name "Rocky Religion"
Unfortunately it's NOT a Gazetted Climbing area so NO climbing (ropes etc)
Have found out since listing the cache, that it has been climbed (but not often) and the climbs are officially listed as climbs(not sure of the legalities of climbing here) if you look closely you can see some sport climbing "bolts" in the walls, some hard serious climbs!
It's actually called "Gibraltar Rock" and is quite an outstanding unusual piece of rock situated in a very beautiful valley / gorge on the edge of the Mount Remarkable Park.
It's another "not often visited area"
It's a public road in through private property so stay on the track, and as per the bush rule...
If a gate's closed... close it after you.
If it's open... Leave it open
You'll find the unmarked track south of Melrose at
S 32 51.082 E 138 10.767 off "Survey road"
It can be traversed by conventional vehicle (take care particularly if it's wet)
There are THREE gates to go through at
S 32 51.082 E 138 10.638
S 32 51.044 E 138 10.107
S 32 50.690 E 138 09.683
However the road is obvious as to which one to follow.
BUT don’t stray from it or you're trespassing
