Aden This Fun Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

tazmasized: This was the first cache I placed and it was my last active cache prior to moving from near Manassas to Radcliff, KY. When it was placed, this was one of three caches along or near 234 and I had 38 finds. As I archive this cache there are over 60 caches along 234.

I am archiving this cache about a week early. I figure the pending archive and DNF won't exactly draw a crowd.

The Aden in the cache name refers to Aden Road that runs near the south side of the park. I found the cache sitting out in the open as placed but then the camo might have blended with the holly bush it was near.

As I archive my first hide, I am going to take the liberty of noting a few things.

My first find was Ghosts of Woodbridge Airport in Lake Ridge.

My first multi was Lake Ridge Multi-Micro by BBQ. BBQ placed a number of caches that I will remember for a LONG time. His Treasure of Les Cridge was my first FTF. His King of the Hill was number 300. It was 17 degrees that day and there was snow on the ground with an icy crust. While it was VERY cold, it was a bright sunny day. I remember Two Wheelin' noting the good number of people that went out caching that day! Then there is If You Want To Run With The Big Dogs... Mastiff in Fountainhead Park. OWWW!! I will never forget that long tough day where I ran out of water. But what a GREAT cache!! The last BBQ cache I did was find # 1000 for me... If You Want to Run With The Big Dogs... Bull Dog on Bull Run Mountain and subsequently archived.

Some other memorable caches for me are the entire Be the Genealogist series. Each cache in the series is in a different park and each cache is an awesome puzzle. I rather hated to finish all those puzzles! Craze Vixen placed a cache with a hilarious name and took me over five trips to find... Sofa King Impossible. Last but not least is Black Box Multi. That is another long but great walk in Fountainhead. That is a great nominee for cache of the year!

Some memorable caching moments for me are:
Little ole ammo box: met Reedkickball and Snowjn

March 1st 2008 along the 234 cache run): met Gaiterman for the first time; Dad & Little Man; vcir100; Blakely Pirates; Bubba Q. Jack; CRDRST; rufnredy; hobo dude; BAJA Clan and ran into Reedkickball again.

September 6th 2009 in Fountainhead Park: was walking along with a friend new to caching and we were bushwhacking. From an entirely different direction and also bushwhacking came cphug184! We stood there talking - in the middle of no where and about 100 feet away bushwhacking in a different direction came BAJA Clan and rufnredy!! Three groups bushwhacking in different directions and not near a cache and we all meet up!!! What are the odds!

Well, I have had an awesome time learning to geocache while living here.

I will close out my first and last cache with: many thanks to all who sought this cache and to those cachers who have helped me enjoy geocaching here in Northern Virginia.

Best of luck to you and Cheers!

Geocache Description:

This cache will be archived on approximately November 1st 2009.

My first cache. Placed in George Hellwig Memorial Park. Entrance to the park is on Bristow Rd.

One will encounter a fair number of briars getting to the cache so pants are recommended.

Original contents include sidewalk chalk, bubbles, balls, two children's books, a travel bug and a FTF prize. The First To Find prize is a coin commemorating the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. (A very nice coin.)

The missing cache was replaced on 15 February and moved slightly. Depending on the approach, one can avoid briars.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy

Thanks go to the Prince William County Park Authority for permitting this cache to be placed where it is!

Congratulations to Shiq on being FTF on 7 June 2006.

Congratulations to Andrewdt on being the 100th finder on 6 November 2008.
