Welcome to Lummi Island. It's a quiet, relatively undiscovered place; please enjoy and respect the spaces when you visit!
The cache is located at the Overlook, a small public space for viewing Hale's Passage, and the original location of the Lummi Island Ferry Dock. The Overlook is directly across the street from the Beach Cafe, a Lummi Island institution, and a fine place to get salmon and chips in season. Also the Cafe is a fine place to watch people search for a geocache, so please be subtle when searching, or this cache will get muggled as several previous containers were.
The History of the Cache. It started out at the Grange's "Welcome to Lummi" sign. It had a stamped pewter peace sign, and a coin trackable at calif-geocoin that wanted to go to Santa Cruz and then back to Lummi.) The cache went missing in August 2009, due to a rework of the Grange's property. Then, the mystery of the missing log was solved...the sign which provided the principal mechanism of camo had been taken down for restoration. Hence the cache was discovered and muggled. The area was cleaned up and the new sign installed, but there is nowhere for the cache at the sign. The replacement container had to be moved about a hundred feet down the road and across from the original posted coordinates. Since then, it's been muggled about a half dozen times, so please cache discreetly!
From the prominent "Welcome to Lummi" sign at the Grange: turn around, cross the street to the post office, go south past the private residence, and there you will find the Overlook noted at the beginning of the description.
