Geocache Description:

WHEN: Sat. August 19th, 2006
WHERE: McCoy Park in Historic Independence, Mo.
TIME: 4:30PM till ???

We have chosen a Missouri location for this year.s picnic since the last 5 have been on the Kansas side. We now have a location, shelter, menu and it.s time to invite the folks.

McCoy Park is in Independence, along Hwy. 24, across from the Truman Library. Parking is available all around the park. Out of town guests are welcome to join us. There are many caches and other tourist activities in the area to fill your weekend.

The fun will start at 4:30. Check-in, mingle and eat around 5:30. This years menu is B-B-Que sliced meats for sandwiches from Smokehouse BBQ. Buns, cups, plates, napkins and utensils will be provided. We invite everyone else to bring side dishes, drinks, ice or whatever satisfies your taste buds. No alcohol allowed.

This year there will be a charge of $5.00 per person, $2.00 for kids 2-10 yrs. (If your name is Nutz, ajayhawkfan, Russ, or Six Pack the charge is $10.00). This is to cover costs of meat, shelter and other expenses. If there is any money left over after expenses there will be a drawing.

A new activity for this year.s picnic is a silent auction. If you wish to participate. We are asking for donated items, not necessarily caching related, for the auction. Bids will be final at 7:00. Purchases and items awarded by 7:30. We will then have the 50/30/20 drawing. You must be present to win.

There is playground equipment near by, sprinklers (parents bring an extra set of dry clothes), horseshoe pits, restrooms and running water. Bug and coin table will be available.
