Geocache Description:


The Penang Botanic Gardens, or more popularly known as "Waterfall Gardens", was established by the British way back in the late 18th century from an old granite quarry site. Situated in a deep valley, at the foot of jungle clad hills, bound by evergreen tropical rainforests with cascading stream that runs through the prime and undulating grounds.

Its lush greenery combine with tranquil setting makes it a favourite park and a popular tourist attraction in Penang. It is Penang's unique natural heritage, being the only one of its kind in Malaysia. Besides, being a repository of flora & fauna, unique to the country and to the region, it serves as a "green lung" for metropolitan Penang.

Located at the end of the Waterfall Road one can choose to drive, take a cab or cycle. It is 8km from Georgetown and 2km away from the nearest public park, Taman Perbandaran Pulau Pinang. (Youth Park).
Cache is a circular transparent plastic container that contain a stash note, logbook and a pencil. located 150m ASL at the northern side of the garden near the Lily Pond.
Signal is very patchy as location is in a valley and heavily canopied.
