Another Sonoma State Cache!
We spotted this site while out walking the campus. This used to be the football field, but now it's just the track, since Seawolves run, but don't play football. SSU changed its mascot several years ago from the politically incorrect Cossacks to the Seawolves - named for the Jack London story. I like the new, blue wolf, but others will never give up the Cossacks.
So, why don't they play football? SSU's student body is about 65% female, which means 65% of its sports budget has to go for women's sports. Football is an expensive sport to maintain, and meant basically there could be no other men's sports if we kept the football team. Makes sense to me.
Be careful of the stairs, they are old. There, now I've given you a big hint, too! Cache is a six-cup Glad container, large enough for moderate sized goodies.
Parking near the cache is for dorm students only, though you'll probably be pretty quick for this one. If you're doing the SSU Cache Tour, you'll want to find one of the 45-minute parking spaces scattered around. Or, on the weekends you can park in any regular or reserved spot for free. Of course, Handicapped or State spots require the appropriate sticker.
And, of course, watch out for muggles! I've placed this in the summer so the heavy initial traffic should come during low-muggle times.
