For over a month, the minds of walnut-tripper & cerberus1 have been hard at work planning an event to honor the unimoggers. Upon their return to the Poconos in June, we are hosting a picnic for all the events, geocaches, and other treats the unimoggers provided for each and every one of us over the years. This time the tables are turned! Please join us on Saturday, July 8th from 12 PM to ? at Chestnuthill Township Park Pavilion #2 to welcome back the unimoggers.
Did you know that the unimoggers own 69 caches? There are nine in Arizona, including one archived event. There are 56 in Pennsylvania, including seven archived events. New Jersey also houses four unimogger caches. Of course, some of their caches have been archived since placed. How many have you found?
To date, I have found/participated in 36 unimogger caches. In fact, many of my first finds were unimogger caches in and around the Stroudsburg area. Their finds helped mold me into the cacher I am today. I’m sure if you live in or around the Stroudsburg area, you have found a unimogger cache or two or twenty!
To summarize, that’s why cerberus1 & I are hosting this event. To thank and show appreciation to the unimoggers for taking the time to find places to hide the things we like to search for. To show respect for all the hard work it takes to organize and run an event. (Now I know what it feels like!) Finally, to welcome them back home! They truly are pioneers for hiding and finding geocaches with almost three years of experience and over 1200 caches found.
So…bring your appetites, your stories, and your sense of adventure. The style is potluck with walnut-tripper supplying the hamburgers & hotdogs and cerberus1 supplying the paper products. In your replies, please indicate what you are bringing.
For this event, walnut-tripper is setting up three (yes, three all you FTF hunters) three new geocaches in the park.
In addition, I am asking attendees to bring something to stock an ammo can with as a tribute gift for the unimoggers. I will supply the can. Of course, bring the travel bugs and coins for a swap!!
Chestnuthill Township Park is located off Route 715 north of the Wawa in Brodheadsville. Pavilion #2 (in the woods) can be found at the above coordinates.
